Who is Best Finishers of World Cricket: Former Sri Lankan cricketer and Rajasthan Royals cricket director Kumar Sangakkara has described former Indian wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik as one of the best finishers in T20 cricket. Dinesh Karthik, 39, who had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in early June. Now he has become the first Indian to participate in SA 20 to be held from 9 January to 8 February.

Dinesh Karthik has scored 7,407 runs in 401 matches at a strike rate of 136.96 in T20 format for different teams including IPL. He last played competitive cricket for RCB during this year's IPL, where he played a key role in the team's playoff qualification by scoring 326 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 187.36.

After the player auction, Sangakkara said, “We got our first picks. We only had a few slots vacant. The auction, led as always by Graeme Smith, was very entertaining.

He further added, “Dinesh Karthik performs brilliantly at the end of the innings, he is explosive, capable and one of the best finishers in T20 cricket around the world. His presence and experience are vital for the team. After Jos's departure, “Who usually perform brilliantly at the top, we have managed to split the responsibility between two different players who are equally capable and destructive, I think we have a better balance than last time.”

Dinesh Karthik has had an illustrious international career for India, being a part of the team's victories in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2013. He represented India in 180 international matches across all formats and took 172 dismissals behind the stumps. Paarl Royals will begin their SA20 campaign against Sunrisers Eastern Cape on 11 January.
