The Indian women's cricket team has been placed in Group A along with arch-rivals Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
The Indian team, ranked third in the world rankings, is the second best ranked team in Group A after Australia. New Zealand is at the fourth position in the ICC rankings, while Sri Lanka and Pakistan are at the seventh and eighth positions respectively.
The Indian women's cricket team began their T20 World Cup campaign with a defeat against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday, October 4.
India will play its next matches against Pakistan (Sunday, October 6), Sri Lanka (Wednesday, October 9) and Australia (Sunday, October 13).
The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals which will be played on October 17 and 18. Let us tell you, the final of the Women's World Cup 2024 will be played at the Dubai International Stadium on 20th October.
Despite reaching the semi-finals four times and the final once out of eight times in the competition, the Indian women's cricket team has not yet won the Women's T20 World Cup title.
India had reached the final in the 2020 edition but the team faced disappointment against Australia. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, India had reached the semi-finals but once the team had to face defeat from Australia.
South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland have been placed in Group B in the ten-team competition.
Before the group stage matches, India played brilliantly in two warm-up games. India has defeated 2016 champion West Indies and last year's runner-up South Africa.
