Tejashwi Yadav, son of former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and veteran leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, started campaigning for RJD in the year 2010 itself, but he used to play cricket before that. Tejashwi studied from Delhi Public School and started playing cricket at school level itself. He was also the captain of his school team.

Tejashwi Yadav has even played for Delhi's Under-17 and Under-19 cricket team. He played one first-class match, in which he scored 20 runs. He also has 14 runs and one wicket in his name in his List A career. Not only this, Tejashwi was bought by Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 2008 auction. He did not get a chance to play, but he remained a part of the Delhi squad till 2012. Tejashwi tells that due to injury he had to leave cricket. He retired from this game in 2013.

While playing for the university, he played in the Viji Trophy at the under-25 level. At that time, while playing for the South Zone cricket team, he also took 6 wickets.
