In such a situation, when Marufa's elder brother Al Amin Islam saw his passion for sports, he explained to him and said that if you have to play, then play cricket. There is a risk of breaking a leg in football. Marufa accepted the advice of his elder brother, who enrolled him in a local academy, from where Marufa started learning the art of cricket.

Bangladesh's hope in T20 World Cup

Even though she had to rebel a little against her mother, with the support she got from her brother, Marufa was successful in realizing her dream. 19 year old Marufa Akhtar has so far played 26 T20 matches for Bangladesh, in which she has taken 18 wickets.
