Dwayne Bravo announces retirement from all forms of cricket

Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from cricket after his final CPL season ended prematurely due to injury.

Bravo turns 41 next month and is the leading wicket-taker in the T20 format. He said goodbye to international cricket in 2021 and last year he also distanced himself from IPL as a player. Meanwhile, he was seen in the role of coach in Chennai Super Kings and Afghanistan men's team.

Bravo said in a post on Instagram, “My mind still wants to play more cricket but my body is no longer allowing it. I can't put myself in a position where my teammates, the fans and the teams I play for.” I represent them now, they may be disappointed with me. Therefore, with a heavy heart, I announce my retirement from this game.”

In his 18-year career, Bravo achieved many records in T20 cricket. He was a part of trophy-winning teams in IPL, PSL and Big Bash. Along with this, he was also a part of the West Indies team that won the T20 World Cup twice. He took 631 wickets while playing 582 matches in T20 cricket.

Before the current season of CPL, Bravo had announced that this season of CPL will be their last season. Although he was scheduled to play the upcoming season of ILT20 and was also retained by MI Emirates, he decided to retire from cricket after suffering a groin injury during the CPL.

Bravo won five titles in the CPL, three of which he won for Trinbago Knight Riders. For the last few seasons in CPL, Bravo was playing the role of nurturing young talent, the same role is currently being played by Mahendra Singh Dhoni for CSK in IPL.
