Pakistan has been given the hosting rights of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but it is not yet decided that the tournament will be held there. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already made it clear that it will not send the Indian team to Pakistan. An important decision on this issue can be taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on 29 November.
Jaishankar explained foreign policy through cricket
Not only cricket, but also political relations between India and Pakistan have been tense for a long time. In such a situation, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar explained India's changed foreign policy against Pakistan by giving the example of cricket.
An immense pleasure to release former Indian Cricketer Mohinder Amarnath's memoir 'Fearless'.
Thanked the legend for all the memories. His composure, competence and character hold many lessons, for cricket, for life and surely for diplomacy. pic.twitter.com/umQTqZzSGP

Jaishankar said at the launch event of former cricketer Mohinder Amarnath's autobiography “Fearless” that India now plays in an “open-chested” position against Pakistan. He indicated that India no longer adopts the traditional approach as before, but moves forward openly and confidently.
Similarities between cricket and foreign policy
Jaishankar shared interesting parallels between the changes in India's foreign policy and cricket strategy. He said that foreign policy is more like cricket than chess. There are many players, the circumstances are constantly changing, and the psychological edge is very important.
The Foreign Minister described the Indian cricket team's World Cup victory in 1983 as a turning point. He said that the 1983 victory proved to be an inspiration not only for Indian cricket but also for India's foreign policy.
History of India-Pakistan cricket
Jaishankar mentioned the 1982 tour of Pakistan, where the Indian team suffered a 0-3 defeat in the six-Test series. Big players like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath were present in the team. However, the very next year, the Indian cricket team created history by winning the World Cup under the leadership of Kapil Dev.

Jaishankar saw this victory as a symbol of change in India's foreign policy and global position. He said that India now stands on the international stage with confidence and strong will, just like the Indian cricket team did after 1983.
