Pakistan Political Protest: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is desperate to host the Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. But the situation in the country seems to be from bad to worse. Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is also nervous due to the ongoing political protest in Islamabad, Pakistan. The board decided to call back its Sri Lanka A team from Pakistan leaving the series midway. This has been confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board itself.

50 overs series canceled

The PCB on Tuesday confirmed that after consultation with the Sri Lankan board, it has postponed the last two 50-over matches between Pakistan Shaheen and Sri Lanka A. These matches were to be played in Rawalpindi on Wednesday and Friday. The first match was played in Islamabad on Monday where Pakistan Shaheen's team defeated Sri Lanka A by 108 runs. But Sri Lanka A team will not play the remaining two matches but will leave the series midway and return home.

New dates will be announced

Pakistan Cricket Board also made it clear that both the boards will consider for new dates. Former Pakistani captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party started a protest march towards main Islamabad from Sunday. There were fierce clashes between protesters and security forces and many fatal incidents were witnessed. In view of this, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has decided to call its team back home.

PCB issued a letter

PCB wrote in its press release, 'Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket, has postponed the last two 50-over matches of the Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka 'A' series due to a political activity in the federal capital. The last two matches were scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Both the boards will cooperate in finalizing the new dates to complete the series.
