The magic of Test cricket is on the rise, India-Australia series receives record number of spectators in 2 days, Ashes record in danger

New Delhi. Who says that the test match craze is ending now? The magic of the longest format of cricket is speaking to the spectators in the India vs Australia Test series. Spectators registered their presence in record numbers in the first two days of the first Test match at Optus Stadium in Perth. This makes it clear that people still like to watch this old cricket. A record number of spectators reached the stadium for the second consecutive day to watch the opening match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. India strengthened its hold on the second day. Team India has a lead of 218 runs while its 10 wickets are safe.

17 wickets fell on the opening day of this test match. And it was entirely in the name of the bowlers. After scoring 150 runs in the first innings, India, under the leadership of captain Jasprit Bumrah, restricted Australia's seven batsmen to 67 runs. On the second day, Yashasvi Jaiswal (90 not out) and Lokesh Rahul (62 not out) made a partnership of 172 runs for the first wicket, taking India's lead to 218 runs.

The total attendance in the first two days was 63,670 spectators. There are still three days left in this match and there is a strong possibility of breaking the record number of spectators for a Test match in 'Western Australia'.

'The current record is 1,03,440'
The current record is 1,03,440, which was set during the 2006–07 Ashes Test at the 'WACA' Stadium. To surpass this number, 39,771 viewers are needed in the next three days. A record 31,302 spectators were present at the stadium on the first day of the Test, surpassing the single-day record of 22,178 achieved at the 'WACA' on the second day of the 2017 Ashes Test. India's victory in this test match is considered almost certain. This is because till now the chasing team has never won at this venue. Team India can put pressure on the hosts by gaining a big lead.
