A top source aware of the developments told Aaj Tak, 'This meeting has been called to discuss the Champions Trophy because BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan. We need to formalize this trophy because there is not much time left. Many things will be discussed. Such as organizing India vs Pakistan game, groups, semi-finals and final games at neutral venues. We are moving forward with the 'hybrid model'.

Let us tell you that PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi had rejected the 'hybrid model'. PCB had sought clarity from ICC as to why India does not want to go to Pakistan. India has not played cricket in Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The Champions Trophy is returning to the ICC calendar for the first time since 2017.

And this could be changed to a 'hybrid model', in which India could play all its matches at another venue, possibly in the UAE… while the rest of the tournament would be hosted by Pakistan.
