Nazir became very ill in the last week of his life. He had chest infection and was also suffering from a disease called ascites. Let us tell you that he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Lahore. Nazir's son Nauman had some time ago requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to provide assistance for the medical examination of his father. One reason for the deteriorating health of this legendary Pakistani cricketer was that he had become a victim of an accident 5 years ago, after which he was facing continuous health problems.

Took more than 800 wickets

Mohammad Nazir used to bowl off-spin with his right hand. He took 34 wickets in 14 test matches for Pakistan and also has 3 wickets in his name in ODI matches. He was recognized more for his first-class career statistics rather than his international ones. He played 180 matches in his first-class career, in which he took 829 wickets. In his first-class career, he also scored 4,242 runs including two century innings.

He also did umpiring after the end of his cricketing career. He umpired in five Test and 15 ODI matches. In his career, he also played Test matches against India, Australia and West Indies, one of the best teams of the 1970s. He had achieved the feat of dismissing Vivian Richards several times in the same series.
