Former Pakistani cricketer and umpire Mohammad Nazir Jr. died in Lahore after prolonged illness. Mohammad Nazir breathed his last at the age of 78. His son Noman Nazir confirmed this. Nazir was bedridden for the last few months and was suffering from illness. Last week, Noman had appealed to the Pakistan Cricket Board to help his ailing father. Noman said, 'My father was badly injured in a road accident about five years ago. After this he never recovered from his health problems and was bedridden for the last few months. He died in the hospital.

Mohammad Nazir's career

Mohammad Nazir played a total of 14 Test and 4 ODI matches in his international career. In the test he scored 144 runs with 34 wickets. At the same time, he took 3 wickets in ODI. Mohammad Nazir played his first international match against New Zealand in October 1969. In this test match, he took 7 wickets for 99 runs in the first innings. Apart from this, he scored 29 unbeaten runs with the bat and also scored 17 unbeaten runs in the second innings. Nazir Junior made headlines for his off-spin bowling when Imran Khan included him in the team after five years to play against the West Indies at home in 1979–80.

Mohammad Nazir also played 180 first class matches and 29 List A matches. During this period he took 829 wickets in first class cricket. He had also scored 4242 runs in first class cricket with the help of 2 centuries. At the same time, he has 35 wickets in his name in List A. Apart from this, he also umpired in five Test and 15 ODI matches.
