Former England cricket team captain Michael Vaughan is especially keeping a close eye on this series. The 50-year-old veteran believes that the Australian pace trio looks more experienced and stronger than the Indian pace trio.
Not only this, he has also praised experienced spinner Nathan Lyon a lot. He believes that the quartet of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon is the best bowling lineup of the Australian team.
50-year-old Vaughan believes that there will be a contest between two exciting bowling attacks in the Perth Test starting on Friday. The Australian team has excellent bowlers like Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon. At the same time, Indian fast bowling looks inexperienced except for Bumrah.
Vaughan's point of view seems right to some extent. Leaving aside Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj is currently struggling for his old form. Apart from this, bowlers like Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prasidh Krishna have less experience in red ball cricket.
However, these three players have proved their worth in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League. While speaking on SEN, Vaughan said that there was a lot of bounce on the surface during the Australia vs Pakistan ODI match in Perth and there will be 'little action' for the fast bowlers of both sides during the match against India.
Vaughan further shared his views and said, “This is the best series of current times. Because two best teams are facing each other. Australia and India have been the two best Test match teams in the world in the last six or seven years.
He said, “This Australian team is excellent, especially their bowling attack. You can say that this quartet is the best bowling quartet of Australia so far. So I am very curious to see how the batsmen of both the teams play against the bounce in Perth and what kind of quality they face.
Lyon, one of the current bowlers of Australia, has taken 530 wickets so far. After him comes the names of Starc (358 wickets), Hazlewood (273 wickets) and Cummins (269 wickets).
Earlier, Australia's best bowling quartet in Test cricket was Shane Warne (708 wickets), Glenn McGrath (563 wickets), Brett Lee (310 wickets) and Jason Gillespie (259 wickets). These four bowlers played a total of 16 test matches together in the 2000s.
