Tilak Verma was chosen Player of the Match for scoring the most runs in this match and he was also awarded the Player of the Series award for scoring 280 runs at an average of 140 runs in four innings. At the same time, the Gamechanger of the Series award was given to Varun Chakraborty, who took 12 wickets at an average of 11.50.
A flurry of records in the match
– Samson and Tilak Verma made a place in the record books by scoring two consecutive centuries. Samson became the first Indian batsman to score three centuries in T20. On the basis of opener Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma's unbeaten partnership of 210 runs, India scored a massive score of 283/1, which is the highest score till date at the Wanderers Stadium.
– This is India's second highest score in T20 against any team. At the same time, this is also the biggest partnership from India in T-20 International. A total of 23 sixes and 17 fours were hit by India. Thus, 206 runs were scored only through boundaries. This is a record of sixes by India in any T20 match. Earlier this year on October 12 in Hyderabad, India had scored 297 runs, in which 22 sixes and 25 fours were hit.
