New Zealand Pacer Tim Southee Announced Retirement: New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee admitted that retiring from international cricket was a difficult decision, but it was the right decision. Southee announced on Friday (15 November 2024) that the upcoming series against England will be his last series unless the Blackcaps make the World Test Championship final next year. Actually, Tim Southee made his debut in 2008, and now he is considered one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in the world.

Let us tell you that with 385 Test wickets in 104 matches, Tim Southee is the second highest wicket taker of New Zealand in Test cricket. Notably, he is also the only bowler in the world to achieve the unique milestone of taking more than 300 wickets in Tests, 200 ODIs and 100 wickets in T20Is. Speaking to reporters after announcing his decision, the fast bowler said it would be emotional playing his last three home Test matches in Christchurch, Wellington and Hamilton.

Tim Southee said that the time has come for young fast bowlers to take the team forward and it is a pleasure to work with them. During this he said, “One last chance on three grounds which have been very good for me and places where I really like playing. It's a tough decision, but I think it's the right one. [हमारे पास] There are some promising young bowlers too who I've really enjoyed working with and hopefully I've taught them a few things. “He’s definitely taught me some things as well, so it’s been a pleasure and now it’s time to take this team forward.”

It is noteworthy that fast bowler Tim Southee will get a chance to end his career against England, the team for which he made his debut in 2008 at the age of 19. The New Zealand fast bowler felt that his career had ended on a good note and he described the series against England as a great series. Saudi told reporters how he took the decision, “I think what you are seeing in front of you, last year was the World Cup and earlier this year we played the T20 World Cup.”
