Now only a few months are left for the Champions Trophy 2025, it is to be organized in February-March and no decision has been taken yet regarding the venue of this ICC tournament. Actually, Pakistan is to host the Champions Trophy, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan and play. While BCCI has talked about hybrid model, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is adamant that this time all the matches will be played in Pakistan only. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is also torn between the fight between these two cricket boards. Recently a video had gone viral, in which a Pakistan fan in South Africa had asked Suryakumar Yadav why he does not come to Pakistan to play, to which Surya had replied that it is not in our hands. At the same time, when Pakistan's limited overs format captain Mohammad Rizwan was asked about the Champions Trophy, he won hearts with his answer.
These days, Pakistan cricket team is on Australia tour, where it won the three-match ODI series 2-1 and now a three-match T20 International series is to be played. In the press conference held at Gabba before the T20 series against Australia on Wednesday, Rizwan said about the Champions Trophy, 'Welcome to KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav. Whatever players come, we will welcome them. This is not our decision, this is the PCB's decision. Whatever decision is taken, I hope that the right decision will be taken through talks.
Rizwan further said, 'But we hope that Indian players will come to Pakistan and we will welcome them.' According to Pakistani media reports, PCB has even threatened that if the Champions Trophy is organized somewhere else, then it will withdraw its name from this tournament. The answer to whether the Champions Trophy will be organized in a hybrid model or in some other country will be known only in the coming days.
