Manjrekar gave advice to BCCI
Manjrekar has advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) by tweeting that the Indian coach does not have the manners to talk to the media. In such a situation, he should not be sent to the press conference. Sanjay Manjrekar wrote, “I just saw Gambhir in the press conference. It would be wise for BCCI to keep him away from such work and let him work behind the scenes. They don't have the manners to talk and don't have the right words. Rohit and Agarkar are better suited to face the media.”
Ricky Ponting raised questions on Virat's form
During the press conference, Gambhir had targeted Ricky Ponting for criticizing former captain Virat Kohli. Ponting said, 'I read a statistic about Virat, it said that in the last five years he has scored only two (three) Test centuries, this does not seem right but if so then it is a matter of concern. There will be no top level international cricketer in the world who has scored only two Test centuries in five years.
Gautam Gambhir's absurd answer to Ponting's question
On this, Gambhir said, 'What does Ponting have to do with Indian cricket? They should think about Australian cricket. Rohit and Virat are incredibly strong players. Let us tell you that the Indian team will play the first match of Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth from 22nd November. To remain in the race for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), India will have to win this series at any cost.
