Lucknow, Amrit Vichar: Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Sumit Gupta, Cricket Buddies defeated SMR Club by 20 runs in the 3rd Adhir Dubey Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament. Sumit, who took four wickets for 24 runs, was chosen man of the match. In another match, Tariq Club defeated Carrier Lions by 5 wickets.
Batting first at the Pandit Rash Bihari Tiwari Stadium, Cricket Buddies scored 187 runs for 4 wickets in the allotted overs. Sonu Swaroop scored 42 runs, IC Aggarwal scored 34 not out and Fakhruzzaman scored 33 runs. In reply, SMR Club was reduced to 167 runs for nine wickets. Rashid, who came at number six, played an innings of 61 runs with 7 fours and two sixes in 31 balls but could not lead the team to victory. Rehan scored 38 runs and Shiv Srivastava scored 23 runs.
In the second match of the day, Tariq Club defeated Carrier Lions by 5 wickets with sharp bowling led by man of the match Nayyar Jamal (4 wickets). Career Lions, batting first, scored 141 runs for nine wickets. Only Anil Lal (40), Ehsan (24), Dheeraj Aggarwal (22) and Afsar Siddiqui (20) could survive. From Tariq Club, Nayyar Jamal got four wickets for 10 runs and Mayank and Honey Jaffrey got two wickets each. In reply, Tariq Club scored the required 142 runs to win for 5 wickets in 18.5 overs. Opener Jaswinder Singh (49 runs, 26 balls, 5 fours, 3 sixes) and Amitabh Singh (32) added 61 runs for the first wicket. Then Firoz Khan and Mayank scored unbeaten 20-20 runs and took the team to the destination of victory. From Carrier Lions, Ehsaan got three wickets and Azim Rehman got two wickets.
