The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the pitch at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium used for India's Test match against Bangladesh as 'very good' while the pitches at the other four home venues used during the season have been rated 'satisfactory'. It is assumed. All three Test venues used against New Zealand – Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai – received 'satisfactory' ratings from the ICC Match Referees.
ICC's hunter started
However, the outfield of Kanpur's Green Park Stadium has been given an 'unsatisfactory' rating by ICC match referee Jeff Crowe. Only two full days of play could be played against Bangladesh due to the poor drainage system of the government-owned stadium and despite the pitch being rated 'satisfactory' the outfield did not escape the displeasure of the former New Zealand international cricketer.
Gave his decision on India's pitch
The high-scoring pitches in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad, used for the T20 Internationals against Bangladesh, have been rated 'very good' as they were in line with the requirements of the shortest format. However, the Indian team management, BCCI and local curators will not be too happy to know that former Australian opener David Boon did not give any of the Test match pitches used against New Zealand a rating better than 'satisfactory'.
Decision came on Chinnaswamy's pitch
Chinnaswamy's pitch had excessive moisture due to which India were all out for 46 runs against New Zealand while both Pune and Mumbai wickets were completely spin friendly which did not strictly follow the criteria set for 'good Test' match wickets. But due to the good individual batting performance of the players of both the teams, both the wickets got satisfactory ratings.
