The Bihar government on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the redevelopment of the Moin-ul-Haq Cricket Stadium here. An agreement was signed between the BCCI and the Sports Department of the State Government to refurbish the stadium so that it can host national and international level cricket matches.
“This will transform the Moin-ul-Haq Cricket Stadium into an international stadium equipped with state-of-the-art facilities where day-night matches and other sporting activities will be organised,” Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) president Rakesh Kumar Tiwari told PTI. “The renovated stadium with five-star facilities will have a seating capacity of more than 40,000 people and the construction work will be completed in three years,” he said.
As per the MOU, Moin-ul-Haq Cricket Stadium will be given on lease to BCA on payment of Re 1. BCCI and BCA will share profits for seven years after the new stadium begins operations. Tiwari said, 'After seven years, the profit will be shared between the state government and BCA on 50-50 percent basis. The lease will be for 30 years which can be extended later.
