Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had spoken openly regarding the retentions ahead of the 2025 mega auction. Glenn Maxwell, who has been a part of the RCB team since 2021, has now broken his silence regarding RCB's strategy of not being retained. He has revealed how the franchise came to know about it and explained the team's strategy while handling the situation.

Maxwell revealed that he got a call from Mo Bobat and Andy Flower. I was on a Zoom call and they explained the decision not to retain me. We talked about the game for about half an hour. Talked about their strategy and what they wanted to do going forward. I was really happy with it. The Australian star also revealed that his journey with RCB is not over. He understands the team's plans for the upcoming season.
Speaking on RCB's strategy, Maxwell said, “They are obviously changing some of their staff as well. So they have to solve it before the players. I understood that this process would take some time. Yes, you are always a little nervous about that last date wondering whether you will be retained or not and not sure what is going to happen. Yes, I would not say that my RCB journey is over. I would definitely love to go back to that team. It's a great franchise to play and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

His highest score was 28 runs. Apart from this, Maxwell could take only six wickets with an economy of 8.06.
