Samastipur : Subhit Kumar Singh, working as a Plus Two teacher at P R Inter School, Karpurigram, has been selected as assistant umpire in the Ranji Trophy cricket match starting from 6 to 9 November at Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna. Bihar will play its second match against Madhya Pradesh in this four-day Ranji Trophy cricket match organized under the auspices of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. In this match, Subhit will be seen as assistant umpire cum technical officer.

Subhit, son of lecturer Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh and mother Sunita Devi, was interested in cricket since childhood. In his cricket career, he made his mark as a fast bowler in inter-college, East Zone, Under-22 Bihar State Zakir Hussain Trophy, Heman Trophy etc. cricket competitions. His dream of becoming a cricketer suffered a setback after Bihar's recognition was abolished in the year 2000.

Seeing his passion for cricket, the former headmaster of the school, Dhirendra Mohan Mukul, encouraged him and asked him to move forward in the field of umpiring. After re-recognition of Bihar in the year 2018, Subhit secured a place in A grade by securing eighth rank in the State Panel Umpiring Examination held in Nawada and SGFI, Under-14, Under-19, Under-22 and BCA Senior and Junior and Heman. Played undisputed umpiring role in dozens of state level matches including trophy.

Seeing his ability, Bihar Cricket Association has now selected him to spread his shine at the national level. There is an atmosphere of happiness among the sports lovers in the district after the news of Subhit's deputation as assistant umpire. Former District Cricket Association President Ajay Shankar Singh and Secretary Sonu Jha have expressed happiness over his achievement. Subhit has given credit for this to the selection committee of Bihar Cricket Association and Bihar Operation Manager AK Chandan, former district secretary Ranjit Kumar Singh and all the officials of the association. Many sports lovers including umpire Tarvendar Singh, Mukesh Verma, Rajesh Akela, Rakesh Kumar, Brajesh Jha, Praveen Kumar have congratulated Subhit.
