The pair of Sai Sudarshan and Padikal took charge and took over the innings for India A by making an unbroken partnership of 178 runs for the third wicket in the second innings. The flatness of the pitch also helped both of them. Sudarshan hit nine brilliant fours in his innings of 96 runs in 185 balls, while Padikkal remained unbeaten on 80 runs in 167 balls with the help of five fours. Earlier on the second day, playing ahead of 99/4, Australia A captain Nathan McSweeney (39) and Cooper Connolly (37) added 51 runs for the fifth wicket.
Mukesh Kumar took 6 wickets
But Mukesh, who was a reserve player for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, broke the partnership by dismissing the latter and Josh Philippe in quick succession, after which McSweeney was caught at gully off Nitish Kumar Reddy. Todd Murphy disappointed India A with a brilliant innings of 33 runs, before becoming Mukesh's sixth victim.
