New Delhi. The Indian cricket team's two consecutive defeats in the Test series against New Zealand has created an uproar everywhere. Team India not only lost the Test series but its hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final have also suffered a setback. Two days before the third Test, the Indian team management on Wednesday called 35 net bowlers, which include different types of spinners, for the match against New Zealand at Wankhede.
The Indian Express has learned that the team management has requested the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to allow net bowlers during India's first practice session after the two-day break. The Rohit Sharma-led team has already lost the three-Test series after defeats in Bengaluru and Pune. India are desperate to avoid a clean sweep and have also demanded a turning pitch for the third and final Test.
The team management had already informed all the players that there will be no optional training before the Test, it will be mandatory for all. The last minute request to call extra net bowlers has been taken with a particular focus on the spinners. New Zealand's Mitchell Santner continuously troubled the Indian batsmen in the second test. The left arm spinner had taken 13 wickets in Pune.
India lost at home for the first time in 12 years
The Indian team had not lost at home in the Test series for the last 12 years. The New Zealand team had also not won any test match in India for 35 years. For the first time in 68 years, the Kiwi team has won a Test series against India in India.
