There has been a theft at the house of England captain Ben Stokes. Some masked thieves have targeted his house. His family was inside, while he was captaining England in Pakistan. He said his family was not physically harmed, but said many of their “emotional” belongings were stolen.

Ben Stokes also shared photos of some of the stolen items, which included the 2020 OBE medal, three chains, a ring and a designer bag. 'On the evening of Thursday 17 October, several masked men burgled my home in the Castle Eden area in the north east,' he said in a statement on social media.

He said in his post, 'They ran away with jewellery, other valuables and a lot of personal belongings. Many of those items have really sentimental value to me and my family. They are irreplaceable.

Ben Stokes's family was at home

Ben Stokes said, 'This is an appeal for any help in finding those who have carried out this deed. By far the worst thing about this crime is that it was committed while my wife and 2 small children were home.

The captain of the England cricket team said, 'Thankfully no member of my family was physically harmed. However, it is obvious that this experience has affected his emotional and mental state.

Things could have been worse!

Stokes said, 'We can only imagine how much worse this situation could have been. 'I am releasing photographs of some of the items stolen – which I hope can be easily identified – in the hope that we can find those responsible.'
