Pakistan Cricket: Everything is not going well in Pakistan cricket. After the resignation of head coach Gary Kirsten, questions are being raised on the functioning of the board. Whereas former Pakistani cricketer Rameez Raja has given advice while criticizing the Pakistan Board. Rameez Raja says that Gary Kirsten's resignation will make it difficult for the Pakistan Cricket Board to appoint further international coaches.

Gary Kirsten was made the head coach of ODI and T20 formats of Pakistan cricket team in April 2024. His tenure was for 2 years. Gary Kirsten was the coach of Pakistan during the T20 World Cup 2024. It was in his presence that Pakistan was eliminated from the group round of the tournament itself. The team had to face crushing defeats at the hands of America and India.

Gary Kirsten has left Pakistan at a time when the Pakistani team has to play a series of 3 ODI and T20 matches in Australia in a span of less than a week. The special thing is that during his tenure, Pakistan has not played a single ODI match.

Rameez Raja has strongly criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board after the Gary Kirsten episode. Raja said that with the sudden departure of Gary Kirsten, the Pakistan board is going to find it very difficult to find another international coach. Rameez Raja said- When you look for an international coach, the kind of reaction you will have to face after the resignation of Gary Kirsten. Given that, recruiting international talent will not be an easy and straightforward task for Pakistan.

According to Rameez Raja, Gary Kirsten should have been asked about his role. Like- how he wants to run the team. Rameez said- I don't know whether this clarity was given to Gary Kirsten or not. What did Gary want? I am not aware of this. Gary Kirsten leaving Pakistan cricket like this is not good for the team. Pakistan team would have benefited a lot from his experience in Australia.

Gary Kirsten has previous coaching experience working with India and South Africa. He was the head coach when India won the historic ODI World Cup title in 2011. He is considered one of the best coaches ever to work with the Indian cricket team. However, it is not easy for anyone to handle what is wrong with Pakistan cricket. Recently PCB announced the new selection panel after Pakistan's defeat in the first Test against England in Multan.

Why did Gary Kirsten resign?

The new selection committee consisting of Aaqib Javed, Aleem Dar and Azhar Ali removed captains and head coaches from the selection committee, which was widely criticized. However, Pakistan returned to winning ways by winning the last two Tests against England on spin-friendly surfaces.

Pakistan's Test head coach was also not impressed with this decision like Gary Kirsten, but Kirsten did not make any public statement after his resignation and decided to leave the job straightaway.

The PCB recently appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the new captain of Pakistan for white-ball cricket and Salman Ali Aga as the vice-captain across formats. Pakistan's tour of Australia will begin on November 4 with a three-match ODI series against the home team.
