Cricket is a game in which players do not have to play with life-threatening dangers, but the danger still exists. When the ball comes at a speed of more than 150 kilometers per hour, it is not easy for the batsmen to deal with it. There is always a fear of an accident against the spinner regarding the fielder deployed very close to the batsman. Despite this, it is not as dangerous as adventure sports. But many cricketers who entertain fans with their batting, bowling or fielding are often seen playing with danger, sometimes through some adventure sport and sometimes through some accident. One such veteran cricketer who has faced dangers is Australia's former explosive batsman Matthew Hayden, who has scared many bowlers and fielders with the bat held in his hand, but he himself has faced dangers in the waves of the sea.

Former left-handed opener Matthew Hayden turned 53 on October 29. Hayden, who retired from international cricket about 16 years ago, had created fear in the minds of bowlers in every format with his explosive batting. Played more than 250 international matches for Australia and scored more than 15 thousand runs. But Hayden would not have been able to reach this far had his life not been saved in an accident years ago. His life was not saved with anyone's help, but because of his own courage and strength, when he pulled not only himself but also one of his friends out of a difficult situation.

Saved life by swimming 1 kilometer when boat sank

It was around 1999-2000, when Hayden and his Australian teammate Andrew Symonds had gone sea fishing in Queensland, Australia. There was another friend with him. Meanwhile, their boat overturned in the strong wave and all three fell into the sea. The boat started sinking and in such a situation they had only one option – to swim to the shore. Hayden and Symonds were experts in this but their third partner was not competent in it. In such a situation, Hayden and Symonds saved their lives and that of their companion by swimming for about a kilometer against the flow of the waves. The most dangerous thing was that there were many sharks, the most dreaded predator of the sea, in that part but both of them saved their lives by being alert.

Waves hit while surfing

This was not the only accident where Hayden's life was saved. It was only 6 years ago when once again a terrible accident happened to him in the waves of the sea. It was in 2018 when he was surfing with his son in the sea of Queensland. During this time, he got hit by a strong wave and then within no time, the waves brought him directly to the beach and threw him and he fell on his head, due to which he suffered serious injuries on his forehead and head. Not only this, due to his weight, Due to this, his neck also got twisted strongly. Hayden himself had told in an interview that he heard something crackling in his neck. Later it was found out that the upper part of his spinal cord was broken. After this injury, he stayed away from any kind of action for several weeks but the matter of relief was that his life was saved.
