Shami is set to return to competitive cricket after a long injury layoff ahead of the Australia tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He is expected to play in Bengal's next Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka in the first week of November. He has not been selected for the five-match Test series to be held in Australia.
