Patna, 20 October. The 38th edition of the prestigious and most popular All India Sukhdev Narayan Memorial Inter-School Cricket Competition, not only in Bihar but in the country, at the local Jagjivan Stadium had a grand start with the slogan 'One tree, in the name of the nation'.

The competition was inaugurated by chief guest former Vighan councilor Ranveer Nandan, Bihar Players Association President Mrityunjay Tiwari, Vijay Kumar, organizing secretary Vijay Kumar Narayan Chunnu, former Ranji player Vishnu Shankar blew the balloon and got introduced to the players. Many dignitaries like Mrityunjay Narayan, Rajesh Singh, Ravindra Mohan, Sachin, Balbant Kumar, Priyanshu, Atendra Kumar, Mrityunjay Gya, Sandeep Patil etc. were present on this occasion. The players were administered the oath of sportsmanship.

Doni Polo Public School and Gravity High School won the matches played on the first day of the competition. Doni Polo Public School defeated Jesus and Mary Academy by 25 runs while Gravity High School defeated Divine Valley International School by 5 wickets.

Jesus and Mary Academy won the toss and invited Doni Polo Public School to bat. Donny Polo Public School scored 160 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs on the basis of excellent batting of Piyush (44 runs) and Amartya Chaudhary (44 runs).

In reply, even after Manjeet's inning of 54 runs, Jesus and Mary Academy could only score 135 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Amartya Chaudhary, who was brilliant in batting, also shone in bowling and took 3 wickets. He was given the Player of the Match award by former Ranji player Vishnu Shankar.
