BCCI Major changes have been made in the rules of domestic cricket. These rules have come into effect from Ranji Trophy 2024. In fact, in these changes, important amendments have been made in the rules related to retirement of batsmen, applying saliva on the ball and overthrow. At the same time, information about these new instructions has been sent by BCCI to the state cricket associations and teams through an official notice.
Actually, according to the new rules, if a batsman leaves the game without any injury, illness or valid reason, he will be declared “out”. Let us tell you that earlier, after leaving the game, the batsman could bat again with the permission of the captain of the opposing team. But a major change has been made in this rule by the board and now, if a batsman leaves the field without a valid reason, he will not be given the opportunity to bat again and will be declared out.
Now the rules regarding use of saliva on the ball have become more strict
The use of saliva on the ball was completely banned after the Covid-19 pandemic, and now the BCCI has made this rule even more stringent. Actually, according to the new rules, if a player applies saliva on the ball, a penalty will also be imposed on that team and the ball will be replaced immediately. Along with this, the player will also be warned. Not only this, if this is done continuously, more strict action will be taken against the team.
Big change in rules related to overthrow
Along with this, major changes have also been made in the rules related to overthrow. In fact earlier, if the batsman had taken runs before the overthrow and the ball crossed the boundary, then both the runs taken by running and the four runs scored from the boundary were added. But now according to the new rule, in such cases only 4 runs will be added to the score, no matter how many runs the batsman has scored.
